ENGLISH FOR IELTS AND ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EIAP)

The EIAP program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to perform a range of general and academic-based tasks at an Upper Intermediate to Advanced level of English proficiency. When students successfully achieve all the learning outcomes for this course, they may exit at the Upper Intermediate to Advanced level of English proficiency and will be awarded with a completion certificate correlating to their final grades/overall marks in the course. The course content is an even split between IELTS and English for Academic Purposes (EAP), with specially designed EAP assessments, as well as assessments based on IELTS practice tests using the IELTS marking guide. In addition, this course focuses on developing English Language skills for Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing plus Grammar & Vocabulary, all of which will help improve overall language proficiency as well as specific Academic English skills for further studies.

English for Academic Purposes Timetables
Activities
The monthly activities calendar offers an exciting array of activities 7 days a week including: Salsa dancing, winery tours, weekend camping trips and sporting or cultural events.
Computer Lab
Fully equipped computer lab available to students during our business hours. Additionally, feel free to study or do research using these computers.
Assessment
Progress assessment is ongoing and includes weekly progress tests. There are also regular review tests and a range of assignments, presentations & homework exercises.
Supervised Self-study
A teacher is in the library in supervised self-access periods to assist students with homework, resumes and questions from class.
Extras
Five hours a week of free extra classes are available to all students. Extra classes include: Pronunciation, TOEIC, Academic English, Vocabulary and Conversation.
Weekly Feedback
Teachers provide students with weekly feedback on their progress in one-to-one meetings. Teachers advise on how to improve in areas of weakness and build on current strengths.

At Discover English I had a very good experience. Teachers and all administrative staff were always keen to help me.
I did a few weeks of General English before EIAP, they were quite useful because it gave me more bases before doing such an advanced course like EIAP. I finished at Discover English after 15 weeks of EIAP. I believe this is the perfect course for those planning to do further studies. EIAP prepares you for more professional English and gives you much confidence when doing academic writing.
I am not an exam person, so not having to take the IELTS test was a huge advantage for me. I studied hard when doing the EIAP Course and now I have a direct entry to William Angliss to start my studies.
